Great Women in Arts, Montemor-o-Novo

Activity developed in mobility to Portugal "Great Women in Arts".

"Being an artist is hard.

by Emília Isaías

Gender inequality is an inescapable reality of many worlds, and in the arts it is no exception.

Through the activity "Great Women in Arts", students were exposed to the choice of a work of Portuguese artist and challenged to reproduce their own interpretation of the artist. The choice was based without prior knowledge of the gender of the author, only in the end were revealed the authors of the works.

The students did not consider their choices based on the author’s gender, it was spontaneous choice, only choosing what they found easier to reproduce.

Artists are Artists... That's it!"
